Hide sensitive media and lock down replies.

Why bother?

X allows porn and graphic violence on the open feed. There's no real parent mode — these settings are the best you can do. Honest answer: it's not a great app for under-16s.

Do this, in order

    On the KID's account, tap profile → Settings and privacy

    Then Privacy and safety.
  2. 2

    Tap Content you see

    Turn OFF Display media that may contain sensitive content. Also turn off Show in media timeline.
  3. 3

    Back, tap Mute and block → Muted words

    Add words you never want them to see (sexual, drug, self-harm vocabulary).

    Direct Messages

    Turn OFF Allow message requests from everyone.
  5. 5

    Audience, media and tagging → Protect your posts

    Account becomes private — only approved followers see tweets.

    Discoverability and contacts → turn both OFF

    Stops strangers finding the account by email or phone.

    Honest extra step

    Talk to your teen about why X is risky. Consider deleting it.
