Snapchat
Family Center plus privacy on who can contact your teen.
โฑ Takes about 5 minutes
Why bother?
Snapchat messages disappear, which is exactly why predators love it. Family Center lets you see who your teen is talking to (not what they say).
Do this, in order
- 1
On YOUR phone, install Snapchat
Yes, you need an account. Create one with your real name. - 2
Settings โ Family Center โ Set Up
Add your teen by their username. - 3
Send the invite, have them accept on their phone
Now you see their friend list and who they message โ not message content. - 4
On THEIR phone, go to Settings โ Contact Me
Set it to My Friends. No strangers can message them. - 5
Set View My Story to My Friends
Same screen, just below. - 6
Set See Me in Quick Add to OFF
Stops Snapchat suggesting them to strangers. - 7
Turn off Snap Map
Settings โ See My Location โ flip Ghost Mode ON. Their location stops broadcasting. - 8
In Family Center, turn on Content Controls
Restricts adult Discover stories.
You did it. ๐
Tell your kid you set this up, and why. It works way better when it's not a secret.
