Why bother?

Snapchat messages disappear, which is exactly why predators love it. Family Center lets you see who your teen is talking to (not what they say).

Snapchat for Parents โ†’

Do this, in order

    On YOUR phone, install Snapchat

    Yes, you need an account. Create one with your real name.

    Settings โ†’ Family Center โ†’ Set Up

    Add your teen by their username.
  3. 3

    Send the invite, have them accept on their phone

    Now you see their friend list and who they message โ€” not message content.
  4. 4

    On THEIR phone, go to Settings โ†’ Contact Me

    Set it to My Friends. No strangers can message them.
  5. 5

    Set View My Story to My Friends

    Same screen, just below.
  6. 6

    Set See Me in Quick Add to OFF

    Stops Snapchat suggesting them to strangers.
  7. 7

    Turn off Snap Map

    Settings โ†’ See My Location โ†’ flip Ghost Mode ON. Their location stops broadcasting.

    In Family Center, turn on Content Controls

    Restricts adult Discover stories.
