Why bother?

Most bad stuff online comes through Chrome on a laptop. SafeGuard plugs the biggest leaks for free — and the kid can't turn it off without your PIN.

Download the file
Tap the orange button above. A file called safeguard-extension.zip lands in your Downloads folder.

Unzip it
Double-click the zip. You'll get a folder called safeguard-extension. Remember where it is.

Open Chrome's secret extension page
In Chrome, type chrome://extensions into the address bar and press Enter.

Turn on Developer mode
Top-right corner of that page. Flip the switch on.

Click "Load unpacked"
A button appears top-left. Click it, then pick the unzipped folder from step 2.

Click the SafeGuard shield icon
It's in the top-right of Chrome, next to the address bar. You might need to click the puzzle-piece first and pin it.

Set a parent PIN
Pick 4–8 digits your kid can't guess (not their birthday). This is the password to change settings later.

Choose the age preset
Under 10, 10–13, or 14–17. Done — close the popup.
